We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect for a 6-month contract based in Sandton. The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end application systems design, ensuring that solution architecture aligns with business strategy, technical standards, and optimal resource utilisation.
This role requires strong Java backend development expertise combined with solid solution architecture experience in complex enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities

Design and oversee end-to-end application architecture solutions aligned to business and IT strategy
Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and high-performing technical solutions
Ensure architectural integrity across systems, platforms, and integrations
Balance functional requirements with technical constraints and resource optimisation
Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams
Evaluate and recommend modern architectural patterns, frameworks, and technologies
Ensure adherence to enterprise architecture standards and governance frameworks
Collaborate with stakeholders including business analysts, developers, and infrastructure teams

Minimum Requirements

8+ years’ experience in software development and solution architecture
Strong background in Java backend development
Hands-on experience with J2EE and/or Spring Boot (Advanced level)
Proven experience designing enterprise-scale systems
Strong understanding of integration patterns, APIs, and microservices architecture
Experience working within financial services or large enterprise environments advantageous

Technical Skills

Java (J2EE / Spring Boot – Advanced)
RESTful API design and integration
Microservices architecture
System design and application architecture
Cloud and/or hybrid architecture exposure (advantageous)
Database design and data flow architecture
DevOps and CI/CD understanding (beneficial)
