Minimum Requirements:
Grade 12
National Diploma in Fire Technology or Higher Diploma in Fire Technology (SAESI)or Equivalent Relevant
National Treasury Minimum Municipal Competency (MFMA).
OHS Manager, SAMTRAC, ASTRAC or Equivalent
Presiding/Presenting Certificate (Disciplinary Matters)
Computer Literate and Proficient in Ms Word/ Excel/PowerPoint
Valid Driver’s License
10 Years Appropriate Experience (2 Years Relevant Experience as Manager in a Metropolitan Local Authority Fire/Emergency Services)
Core Responsibilities:
Plan, organise, lead and control the development, structuring and delivery of learning and development interventions.
Strategic capability and leadership
Ensure compliance but not limited to the following norms and standards, applicable policies, legislations and regulations.
To strategically plan and manage a functional unit within the division to ensure effective and efficient service delivery
Responsible for the management, direction, and performance of the fire safety services section.
Establish and develop organisational principles and processes for an effective and efficient Auxilliary Services and Training in support of the delivery of emergency services in the area of jurisdiction.
To ensure that proper and timeous administration management systems contribute to good corporate governance and image of the department and the municipality
To enable the municipality council to provide a sustainable community Emergency Service in conformance with its statutory obligations as per perspective legislation, as well as to minimise loss of life and properties resulting from fire and emergencies and to ensure preparedness planning in compliance with legislative and statutory prescriptions.
To ensure that the training centre functions effectively and that staff are trained to the required level to meet legislative and organisational needs, and to prevent the occurrence of scarce skills
To protect council from losses and claims.
To enable council to comply with the objects of Local Government, Municipal IDP, Municipal Finance Management Act, Municipal System Act, Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment Act and Disaster Management Act People Management
