PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To manufacture and reproduce mechanical parts in a safe and efficient manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Grade 12 or NQF equivalent 4 is essential.
Recognised relevant Trade Qualification is essential.
3-5 years working experience as an artisan
COMPETENCIES:
Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to basic health and safety principles in the workplace Identify engineering materials (R134a), their characteristics and applications, systemoperation and common metal tests used in engineeringDemonstrate an awareness of customer service
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Attends to callouts with regards to mechanical breakdownsDesigns basic mechanical componentsDiagnoses and repairs faults on equipment and machinery during production/operation.Commissions assembly/machines.Refurbishes/overhauls machines.Performs routine maintenance on:direct and indirect drivespipe and lubricating systemsdynamic and static seals in machines and / or equipmentbearings in machines and equipmentheat exchangers and pressure vesselsgearboxes and pumpsGrind tools and drill bitsMills including all its auxiliariesCompressorsPumpsCrushersConveyorsFurnaces, spray and flash dryers, converters and acid plant equipment.Develops new tooling or modify existing tooling when required.Maintains, repairs, changes and sets tooling.Moves, lifts, lowers and looks after tooling.Interprets technical reports.Compiles feasibility and commissioning reports.Fills in job cards recording work done and parts replaced.
