PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To conduct electrical installations and maintenance on mine equipment including winders, fans, conveyor belts and pumps.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Grade 12 (with Mathematics and Physical Science) OR NQF 4 is essentialRecognised Electrical Trade Certificate essentialMedium Voltage Certificate is EssentialCompleted Winder Modules (Artisan Training Standard 5073)Minimum 3 years ‘experience as an ElectricianMinimum 2 years’ experience is essential on the following:
Winders (AC & DC)MV (33 kV & 6.6 kV) cable installation, termination, fault finding & repairsConstruction, installation, operation, and maintenance of MV electrical networks including switchgearSubstation maintenanceMV testing equipmentConveyor maintenance and repairsMaintenance and repairs of overhead cranes
COMPETENCIES:
Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to basic health and safety principles in the workplaceUnderstand basic electrical and mechanical engineering principlesDemonstrate an understanding of the uses and safety aspect associated with flammable energy sourcesUnderstand basic electronic theory and componentsDemonstrate an understanding of basic programmable logic controllersDemonstrate an understanding of fault-finding techniques on field instrumentation Demonstrate an understanding of the Principles of Process Control Loops Demonstrate an awareness of customer service
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Provides input to the planning process within the area of control and execute the approved plan in accordance with policies, procedures and processes to ensure achievement of production targets. Performs equipment maintenance services according to the required standards and specifications. Maintains a safe and productive workplace Utilises appropriate tools to complete tasks. Makes materials and equipment available for the shift requirements. Co-coordinates multi-task team members to complete assigned work tasks or orders. Plans, schedules and supervises/coordinate subordinate’s activities within a process or service to achieve efficiency and quality goals Complies with MHSA requirementsPerforms underground MV and LV distribution. Compiles and completes accurate reports including safety, injury, hazard, risk and incident reports, and shift and work order reports, and ad hoc reports.
