DEPARTMENT: SHAFTSPURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To safely inspect and maintain low voltage electrical equipment and machinery.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Grade 12 or NQF equivalent 4 is essential.
Serviceman Certificate (Applicable Training Structures) is essential.
3-years’ experience as an Engineering Assistant and job related is essential
COMPETENCIES:
Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to basic health and safety principles in the workplaceUnderstand fundamentals of electricityUnderstand fundamentals of general engineeringDemonstrate an understanding of the uses and safety aspect associated with flammable
energy sources
Demonstrate an awareness of customer servicePerform basic fire fightingPerform basic first aidRespond to hazardous and emergency conditionsRead, interpret and produce basic engineering drawingsIdentify, inspect, use, maintain and care for engineering hand toolsSelect, use and care for engineering measuring equipmentSelect, use and care for electrical measuring instruments
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Installs batteries. Tests batteries for dead cells and replace defective batteries. Checks battery systems on battery units for water and acid levels. Checks batteries Load and connect batteries in battery bay for charging. Cleans battery bay areas.Maintains battery record systems. Wires domestic electrical circuits.Tests and inspects single phase domestic installations. Inspects, operates and maintains high mast lighting structures Inspects and cleans medium / high voltage yards and enclosuresIdentifies, inspects and cleans electrical machines Maintains:Direct Current (DC) machines, low voltage switchgears and lighting Systemselectrical distribution boards, panels and enclosurestransformers, batteries and battery roomsMills including all its auxiliaries and CompressorsPumps, Crushers and ConveyorsOur people set us apart and make us a winning team – we are excited to have someone new join our ranks.
