These terms apply when an employer or recruiter (“you”) buys advertising on WorkScout (workscout.co.za): job listings, job packs, Featured jobs, Featured upgrades, Urgent hiring and Featured employer profiles. By paying a WorkScout invoice, you agree to these terms. Job seekers never pay to use WorkScout, and these terms do not apply to them.
1. What WorkScout does
WorkScout is a job board. We publish vacancies and help job seekers find them. We are not a recruitment agency: we do not recruit, screen, interview or place candidates, and we are not part of your hiring decision. Job seekers apply directly to you, through the application link or email address you give us.
2. Prices
Our current options and prices are shown on our Advertise a Job page. Prices are in South African rand and are the full amount payable. WorkScout is not registered for VAT, so no VAT is added. We may change our prices at any time; a change does not affect an invoice we have already sent you.
3. Ordering and payment
- Send us your vacancy through the enquiry form on our Advertise a Job page, or by email to employers@workscout.co.za.
- We email you an invoice. Please pay by EFT and use the invoice number as your payment reference.
- Your advert goes live, or your promotion starts, once the payment reflects in our bank account. A proof of payment helps us match your payment, but it does not replace it.
- If an invoice is not paid by its due date, we may cancel it and ask you to request a new one.
4. Your advert
You are responsible for the content of your advert. By sending us a vacancy, you confirm that:
- it is a real, open position and you are allowed to advertise it;
- the information is accurate and not misleading, including the job title, location, pay (if given) and how to apply;
- applicants are never asked to pay anything to apply, to be interviewed or to get the job;
- the advert, and how you treat applicants, complies with the law;
- you will handle applicants’ personal information lawfully and only for recruitment.
We review vacancies before we publish them. We may correct formatting and obvious errors, ask you for changes, or decline an advert that does not meet these terms. If we decline a vacancy before it is published, we refund what you paid for it. We may remove an advert that breaks these terms after it is published; in that case no refund is due.
5. How long adverts and promotions run
- Standard job listing: 30 days from the day it goes live.
- Featured job and Featured upgrade: shown at the top of our job list with a “Featured” label for up to 30 days from the day the promotion starts.
- Urgent hiring: an “Urgent hiring” label and top placement for 24 hours from the moment it is switched on.
- Featured employer: your company profile is featured for 30 days.
Promotions end automatically. If you fill the position early, tell us and we will close the advert. Unused days are not refunded.
6. Job packs
- A job pack is a number of Standard job listings paid for in advance. Each job published from a pack runs for 30 days.
- A pack is valid for the period shown when you buy it (currently 6 months for 5- and 10-job packs and 12 months for 25-job and larger packs), counted from the day we confirm your payment.
- Jobs not used by the end of that period expire. Unused jobs are not refundable and cannot be transferred to another company.
- While your pack is valid, you can buy extra jobs at your pack’s price per job. Extra jobs expire with the pack.
- Jobs from a pack can be upgraded to Featured or Urgent hiring at the listed prices.
7. Refunds
Once an advert is live or a promotion has started, the fee is not refundable, except as set out in these terms. If you pay twice or pay too much, we refund the difference or, if you prefer, credit it to your next invoice. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under South African law that cannot be excluded.
8. No guarantee of results
We cannot guarantee a number of views, applicants or a hire. On request, we can tell you your advert’s views and apply-button clicks as recorded by our website. An apply-button click shows that someone opened your application link or email; it does not show that an application was completed.
9. Website availability
We work to keep WorkScout available, but the site may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance. If your paid promotion is affected by a significant outage, contact us and we will consider extending it.
10. Liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any advert or promotion is limited to the amount you paid for it. We are not responsible for your hiring decisions or for anything that happens between you and an applicant.
11. Your details
We use the contact and billing details you give us to reply to your enquiry, send invoices, publish your advert and contact you about it. Read our privacy policy for more.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version on this page when you pay an invoice applies to that purchase. Last updated: 20 October 2026.
